Our
Story
Get to Know Us:
What Does FISH represent?
FISH began in England in 1961 under the leadership of Rev. Derek Eastman and Dr. Donald Richards who challenged their congregation to get their religion off its seat and onto its feet. Volunteers were recruited to provide specific services to anyone in their community who had a need. Neighbors needing help just placed a fish placard in their window. News of this unique way spread around the world and came to the USA in 1964. Beavercreek FISH was started in May 1975 by volunteers from ten local churches and has operated continuously since then. Beavercreek FISH became a charitable non-profit corporation in 2011.

Beavercreek FISH consists of local volunteers providing food and financial assistance to the residents of the Beavercreek City School District who have urgent needs that cannot be met by another organization. Beavercreek FISH is a community supported, all volunteer operated organization, that does not accept government funds.
